,Situated within the Motorsports Precinct of Qiddiya City, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Iconic Cliff Loop is a 6.8 km permanent racetrack that encircles the Al-Tuwaiq Cliffs, transforming the site's dramatic natural topography into a technically demanding and visually striking motorsport destination. Designed by Tilke Engineers & Architects GmbH, one of our parent companies, the circuit forms an integral extension of the wider Speed Park Track masterplan, creating a continuous racing experience that transitions from an urban environment into the distinctive cliff landscape. The track includes two cliff tunnels spanning over 1,260 metres, six underpasses, and 14 km of service roads, leveraging the site's varied terrain to combine high-speed racing sections with significant elevation changes and complex vertical geometry.
The circuit masterplan establishes the framework for the racetrack, paddock, supporting facilities, roads, landscape, and associated infrastructure, with the alignment carefully developed to respond to the site's existing landforms while maximizing the engineering, operational, and visual opportunities presented by the iconic cliff formation. The cliff tunnels, underpasses, and supporting infrastructure form critical elements of the circuit, requiring close integration between motorsport design, civil engineering, and the surrounding natural environment.
The infrastructure and utilities design was undertaken by Focus Design Partners, our second parent company, encompassing the detailed design of wet and dry utilities, mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems for permanent trackside facilities, street lighting, flood lighting, and a fully integrated stormwater drainage network engineered to support safe and reliable operation within the site's challenging terrain. The infrastructure design was carefully coordinated with the circuit geometry, tunnels, underpasses, and steep cliff formations to ensure operational flexibility, safe circulation, and long-term maintainability across the development.
Tilke Focus Design is delivering the construction supervision services for the Iconic Cliff Loop and its early works packages, providing full site oversight and multidisciplinary coordination throughout construction to ensure compliance with the design intent, project specifications, and the highest standards of quality, safety, and performance. The scope includes supervision of cliff stabilization works, rockfall protection measures, slope monitoring, construction sequencing, and the management of complex interfaces between the racetrack, supporting infrastructure, and the site's demanding topography, ensuring the successful delivery of one of the region's most technically challenging motorsport developments.
